KSE-100 Jumps Over 1,700 Points as Trading Volume Hits New Highs
Pakistan Stock Exchange Sees Bullish Rally as KSE-100 Surges Over 1,700 Points
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started the week on a strong note as the benchmark KSE-100 Index posted a remarkable gain of 1,704.79 points on Monday. The index closed at 148,196.42 points, up by 1.16%, compared to 146,491.63 points recorded in the previous session.
Trading activity also saw a sharp rise with more than 610 million shares exchanged during the day, significantly higher than 473 million shares traded on the last working day. The total trading value jumped to Rs. 39.17 billion, compared to Rs. 32.88 billion previously.
Out of 487 companies that participated in the market, 283 recorded gains, 175 faced losses, while 29 remained unchanged.
Among the most active stocks, WorldCall Telecom led the volume chart with over 40.7 million shares traded at Rs. 1.40 per share. It was followed by Pervez Ahmed Company with 29.7 million shares at Rs. 2.82, and Al-Shaheer Corporation with 26.35 million shares at Rs. 12.24 per share.
On the gainers’ side, Hoechst Pakistan Limited saw the highest jump with a surge of Rs. 323.88 per share, closing at Rs. 3,830.59. Close behind was PIA Holding Company Limited, which rose by Rs. 186.13 to settle at Rs. 28,001.10.
Meanwhile, Nestle Pakistan Limited recorded the biggest loss of the day, slipping by Rs. 259.15 to close at Rs. 8,394.94. Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited also witnessed a drop of Rs. 100, ending at Rs. 31,900.00.
Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) rallies as KSE-100 Index jumps 1,704 points, closing at 148,196. Trading volume crosses 610 million shares in bullish trend.
